The Loveland High School Pool was closed in 2002 as its structure was deemed unsafe. It is now possible for the pool to be renovated and be utilized for the years to come. There is a window of opportunity to bring the pool back and we need your help!
Since this pool closed over 6 years ago there is not a swimming facility for students and community members to utilize north of Highway 34. In the next 10 years there are no plans for an aquatic facility in North Loveland according to the current Loveland Parks and Recreation Department. So it is critical we take advantage of this opportunity.
There is overcrowding and overuse of all aquatic facilities in Loveland including the Chilson Center. In 2007 alone Mountain View had 13,051 unique public users and Dick Hewson Aquatic Facility hosted 9,605 unique public users. These numbers do not represent school children or special interest groups. By renovating the Loveland High School Pool over 800 youth in Loveland will be able to utilize this facility. This will certainly help with the city wide crowding and overuse issues by providing a facility for:
- High School Swimming Lessons
- Red Cross Swimming Instruction
- Boys & Girls Middle School Competitive Swimming
- Boys & Girls High School Competitive Swimming
- Recreational “Free” Swimming
- Loveland Swim Club
- Diving
- Diving
- Private and Community Events
